Bailey channel — also called glass run — is the U-shaped, flock-lined rubber that lines the door frame where the window glass runs up and down. It guides the glass, seals against wind and water at the top of the door, and stops the glass rattling. Worn bailey channel is the usual cause of stiff, noisy or leaking wind-up windows.
Soft vs firm channel
Some models use a soft, bendable channel that follows curved frames; others use a firmer section. Ordering the correct profile for your model matters — the wrong one either will not follow the frame curve or grips the glass too tightly.
Fitting tips
Wind the glass down, ease the old channel out, and press the new length in following the frame. Work slowly around tight radii so the flock lining stays even. A little silicone spray on the flock helps the glass run smoothly once it is back in.
