Rubber does not like sitting still in the heat or cold. Seals that are fine when a car is driven regularly can crack, flatten or stick to the paint when it is parked up for months. A little care before storage keeps them supple.
Clean, treat, and relieve pressure
Clean the door, boot and window rubbers, then apply a rubber-safe conditioner (not a petroleum product, which degrades rubber). Leaving windows up but doors unlatched onto the first catch takes constant pressure off the door seals so they do not take a set.
Keep it dry and out of the sun
Store the car somewhere dry and shaded. UV and damp are what age rubber fastest — a cover in a dry shed does more for your seals than any product.
